This cellar is made as part of an extensive renovation of a villa beautifully located by the lake. Before commencing the project, we prepared a geotechnical report that showed, as expected, that we should expect high groundwater and even small streams under the house. With the water table standing so high, we were aware that the process would be a challenge and that we most likely wouldn’t be able to make the deepest of our cellars.
Once the hole is lined with the waterproofing membrane and the molded floor in the hole is hardened up, we can build the cellar, module by module, the water will no longer be a nuisance to the process and it will never be able to penetrate the membrane, so the cellar stays dry for the rest of its life.
